It is a vital activity to save cultural heritage and valuable resources for future generations well known as legacy. The study investigated the preservation activities in select university libraries in Haryana. A well-structured questionnaire was designed and distributed to these libraries. The results reveal that the condition of library interiors like walls, ceilings, floors, windows and ventilation, was at least good in all libraries. There was no written policy for preservation in any library. All the libraries used DDC to organize the library materials and OPAC for information retrieval. Dust particles, temperature, humidity, and insects were the main causes of deterioration in print materials, while technical obsolescence and viruses created problems in non-print materials. Most of the libraries mainly used digitization, cleaning, and stain removal techniques to protect the print materials. They confronted a variety of problems, such as, shortage of trained staff, a national or state level policy for preservation, and users’ unawareness.

Place hold on Preservation of Library Materials in Select University Libraries of Haryana: A Study

Health Science Information System in India: An Inevitable Knowledge Companion for Medical Professionals
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Singh, K P.
New Delhi : Delhi Library Association , 2024 , In the present-day modern world, state-of-the-art technology has turned out to be one of the most significant aspects of healthcare. The technique adopted to manage and effectively maintain knowledge in the area of health science and biomedicine has evolved mainly due to the advancements in computer and communications technology. In the Indian scenario, the information on healthcare system has integrated it into several operational spheres. A persistent stream of latest initiatives has been established to target the imminent problems in the healthcare sector. The propagation of knowledge has transformed as a result of the latest publishing formats, open-access concepts, and institutional repositories. The proliferation of information gateways has made it rather more complicated to access superior-quality health information. A large number of scientists and medical personnel are hardly familiar with the current electronic information formats. Moreover, medical librarians and end- users in India face challenges due to the country’s inadequate infrastructure to fulfil the nation’s expanding need for health information. This study looks at the situation of health science librarianship as well as the difficulties faced by medical librarians and training programs in India.

Place hold on Health Science Information System in India: An Inevitable Knowledge Companion for Medical Professionals

Open Access Research Publications in Indian Central Universities: A Comparative Study Through Bibliometric Approach
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Jilani, Gulam.
New Delhi : Delhli Library Association , 2024 , This study was carried out in order to assess the status of Open Access Research (OAR) undertaken and published at three top Central Universities of India namely, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at Varanasi, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in New Delhi, University of Hyderabad (UOH)in Hyderabad and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU)in Aligarh. The objectives of the research were framed for the Open Access Research publications and data extracted from the Web of Science database. These universities ranked 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 9th and 10thas per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the year 2021.A bibliometric approach was undertaken to satisfy the above framed objectives of the study. This simplified search strategy was applied by using affiliations of all three Universities viz. JNU, BHU, JMI, UOH and AMU separately in such a way that a maximum accuracy could be maintained. The result of the study shows that the UOH produced more OA publications with minimum utilization of financial resources in which 46.15% research are Gold Open Access, that is more than the other four universities. The study explores that close access research (in paywall journals) are published more than open access; however, it would be advantageous if such type of research is published in open access which will be freely available to the public because public funds are utilized to undertake the research in the above-mentioned universities. The study may also be useful to conduct and extend to other central universities as well as state universities and government organizations to evaluate the open access research, especially where public funds are utilized for the purpose of conducting research and universities may help their researchers by reasonable fund allocation for Article Processing Charges and encouraging for gold access or green access journals.

Place hold on Open Access Research Publications in Indian Central Universities: A Comparative Study Through Bibliometric Approach

Examining Digital Literacy Competencies Among the Research Scholars of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda: A Survey
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Singh, Sukhdev .
New Dehli : Delhi Library Association , 2024 , The study attempted to assess the digital literacy competences and skills of researchers in terms of several variables. The study investigates how ChatGPT responds to LIS queries by administering two sets of questions, with a total of eight questions, on each of the three topics selected for the study. The outcomes demonstrate ChatGPT’s capacity to distinguish between various types of queries and deliver appropriate information. However, in terms of information accuracy and validity, it has been observed that there is a lack of specific information and the absence of suitable references. The major issue that was located is the fake and fabricated references provided by ChatGPT that need to be scrutinized thoroughly. The issue is especially considered to be important in the ambit of higher education since it creates major obstacles, particularly in the field of research. This is particularly in case of students, who impulsively follow the results without rationally examining it. It was also observed that ChatGPT gave a variety of responses to the same queries on various machines at distinct times. Authentic references are the basis of each research project. However, AI technologies, such as, ChatGPT do not provide realistic, verified references for specific topics, which might contribute to a lack of credibility and dependability in academic writing. The research analyzes the consequences of these findings and highlights the importance of addressing ethical issues around AI-powered academic tools. Also, libraries not only use AI based tools with caution while providing services using these tools, however, they also need to educate students about the strengths, limitations, and ethical considerations associated with these technologies.

Place hold on ChatGPT and Academics: Its Suitability in Library and Information Science

Bibliometric Analysis of Fake News in India: Study
<dc:identifier>ISBN:</dc:identifier>

By Rani, Rekha.
New Delhi : Delhi Library Association , 2024 , Fake news has recently turned out to be a widespread problem in the present modern society, thereby affecting public opinion, shaping political discussions, and influencing individual decision-making. The exponential growth of the unregulated information across various platforms has prompted scholars to investigate its authenticity and reach. For this study, a comprehensive analysis has been conducted on the literature on fake news published up to May 16, 2024, using the SCOPUS database. The findings bring into lime light on the key trends, patterns, and shifts within the landscape of fake news research, offering valuable insights into this evolving field. The analysis revealed a significant surge in fake news publications over the past decade, with a extraordinary increase in research output observed after the COVID-19 pandemic.
